"With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" The Sun is Shining Here Big Time We continue to extend whatever services we can in the wake of the COVID19 restrictions in the community. Curbside Conversations: A small group has been organized to visit those who are feeling lonely or overwhelmed. If you would like a visit or you know of someone who might appreciate such a visit, let us know. As always, masks are worn and safe distancing is practiced. Bistro Meal Deliveries: Team Sunshine with other members of our community continue to provide delivery of meals for the Bistro. Delivery of medical equipment is by special permission of the Board of Directors or management staff. Pick up of equipment is suspended until the quarantine is lifted. Team Sunshine was asked by the Emergency Preparedness Committee to "bag" 2,000 one-use-only masks from the County of Riverside. The plastic bags hold one such mask. This task was accomplished and the masks are available to all residents at the Lodge. We gratefully acknowledge the Sunshiners who volunteered for this task. Many hands made the work light. Kindness Nudge: If you know of someone who has been especially kind and caring during this difficult time, take a minute and recognize them with a Kindness Award. You will find the Kindness Cards at the front desk. Team Sunshine will recognize those who "reached out" to you. Thank you! Celebrations/ Memorials: We are saddened by the passing of Mindy Venable. This dear, sweet lady was beloved by many. We extend condolences to Clarence, family and friends. We have learned of the passing of Connie Scherer and Steve Schaefer. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to these families who have lost a dear loved one. We don't always know of all the passings in Four Seasons. Our condolences go to those families as well. Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. Give Marietta a call (325-8348) and she'll give you details. Also, a prayer request box is located in the MPR. Closing Thoughts: "You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it." ~ Albert Schweitzer 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2020 | Team Sunshine Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, & time. Players Theater is currently working on new scripts for 2021. We hope to have performance dates by the end of the year. Our first performance (hopefully in March) will be Grand Night of Musical Theater directed by Noreen Scott. The play features segments of famous musicals including, South Pacific, The King and I, West Side Story, and "My Fair Lady." We will announce the date as soon as we know (Umm… when things are safe!) We are also having readings for two other plays for next year. They are Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DiPietro, directed by Chris Pounders and Chuck Sims. It is a hilarious and moving comedy about love between grandparents and grandson, and how the grandparents conspire to keep their grandson from moving out of state. The third play is written by our own Rudy Rich and Sandy Tiffin, entitled, To Be or Not. It is a tender story of a retired English Professor who has lost his wife, is estranged from his children, and temporarily confined to a nursing home. While there, he reconsiders his life and ponders whether it is worth continuing. Will the possibility of finding love again influence his decision? We sincerely hope you and your family stay safe during these turbulent times. We hope to see you soon! ~ Chris Pounders, Chair Players Theater TGIF Once again, we are unable to start TGIF/Karaoke in September. This being said, we want everyone to know we miss all of you and hope you are safe and in good health. We will continue to monitor the virus situation and will keep in touch to let you know when it is safe to start having TGIF/Karaoke again. Watch for updates monthly in the Herald and also in e-mails from the Lodge. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Book Club Our book for September is Please See Us by Caitlin Mullen. Due to the virus and everyone's safety, I'll be hosting a Zoom meeting. Hope all of you interested in good discussions will join us. The day before the meeting, I'll send you a password.
