We are having all our meetings on Zoom now, and are grateful to have that option. There are no major events needing our support in Abravanel Hall right now, yet we are busy with several projects. Some of our equipment is way beyond it's useful technical life, so we have been researching what is needed to start gradually replacing old worn out equipment. This turned out to be more important than we realized, for a very special project. EVERYONE is anxious to see the newly remodeled Clubhouse. However, this virus has terrible timing! So, the design committee, along with AV, came up with a plan: A VIRTUAL TOUR! This involved writing a script, recording the voice-over, staging all the areas, lots of video shots of all the really cool highlights, and finding some soothing background music. Then, as luck would have it, the old computer faded right before we needed it to assemble all these pieces together into a movie for all to see! ACK! We so wanted to get this out to everyone quickly. Our TV Channel, 1960, is housed on this same computer, so although we were able to keep the channel running using a smaller 'borrowed" computer, we could not continue work on the video. Thus, it was doubly important to replace it as quickly as possible. We only lost about 10 days getting that purchased, delivered, installed, and operational, allowing the movie to be finished. So, by now you have all seen and enjoyed this virtual tour. Someday we will all be able to fully enjoy the many improvements in person. Our next big fall project is to figure out procedures to keep our volunteers safe, as we head into the fall and winter, and perhaps are allowed some small events in Abravanel Hall. Too much equipment to easily disinfect, a booth way too small for distancing, a lot of roadblocks. So we must be very dedicated and creative to find alternate ways to get safely back to work… somehow, someday… Please stay safe! 10 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2020 | AV Committee Do you need a temporary loan of medical equipment?
