| THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2020 | 3 By Walt Bowman, HOA President September has arrived, summer is almost over, Labor Day is upon us, the days are getting shorter; Oktoberfest is just around the corner, Thanksgiving is on the horizon; Christmas shopping will soon be at a frenzied pace, and "as the ball drops" on New Year's Eve, a new year will give birth. However, first things first! You soon will be voting for your favorite candidate(s) for the 2020-2021 Board of Directors. You will be receiving your ballot soon, and I urge you to mark your choices and return it ASAP. This will accomplish two things. First of all, you'll be exercising your democratic responsibility by voting; secondly, you'll be assuring that we achieve quorum for our community. You might ask what the new Board will be considering this year. First and foremost will be transparency and the protection of your property values. Second will be the continuation of our way of life here in The Colony. Yes, COVID-19 will most likely continue to impact our enjoyment of many of the normal activities to which we've become accustomed. Still, our many friendships and the bond of reaching out to newcomers remain, involvement in a committee of your choosing is possible, and volunteering to help a neighbor is always welcome. What are the upcoming issues? The golf course, potentially enclosing the BBQ pavilion, solar, keeping the HOA dues in line with our amenities, and other endeavors face us. Continue to smile and wave when you're out walking. Life is what we choose to make it, and living it to the fullest is within all of us. Don't stand and look down; instead bend down and lift someone up. When you've made another's day, you have added a skip to your life and breath and brought the joy of contentment to our community. What will you do today to make a better tomorrow for yourself and our community? Life is too short to waste another day. Be informed! Be involved! Reach out! WE NEED YOU! From e President
