22 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2020 | Chorale The Chorale of Sun Lakes will not be meeting again this year, although we are working on a plan to bring our annual Holiday Concert to the community on Channel 97 in December. We hope to meet again as a Chorale in January 2021 to prepare for a Spring Concert. To maintain our connection as a Chorale family, we meet via ZOOM every Monday morning at 9:30 am. Interested residents are welcome to join us. We have room for 100 guests. There is a simple YouTube video called "Joining a Zoom Call for the First Time; Fun and Easy Online Connection." It explains the easy steps to join a Zoom call for the first time. At this time of year before COVID-19 came along, many people would gather for Oktoberfest which started many years ago in Munich Germany to celebrate the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria in 1810. Many folks think of Oktoberfest as an all out beer bust. Probably to some it is just that. Well some of us are not big alcohol consumers but do enjoy an occasional social drink. In my case I enjoy songs about drinking and sometimes a social drink. There are many fun tunes about this subject. So in celebration of Oktoberfest I've put together a list of a few songs about drinking that you may or may not remember… 1. Tiny Bubbles, Don Ho 2. Drinking Champagne, George Strait, Bill Mack, Cal Smith, others 3. Red Solo Cup, Toby Keith 4. I Like Beer, Tom T. Hall 5. Beer Barrel Polka, The Andrew Sisters 6. Beer For My Horses, Toby Keith 7. Red Red Wine, Neil Diamond, UB-40 8. Scotch And Sod, The Kingston Trio 9. Friends In Low Places, Garth Brooks 10. Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett 11. Tubthumping, Chubawamba 12. Closing Time, Semisonic 13. Escape (The Pina Colada Song), Rupert Holmes 14. One Bourbon, One Scotch & One Beer, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Amos Milburn 15. Strawberry Wine, Deana Carter 16. There's A Tear In My Beer, Hank Williams Jr. & Sr. 17. Spill The Wine, Eric Burden 18. Tennessee Whiskey, Chris Stapleton 19. One Mint Julip, The Clovers-Ray Charles 20. Gin & Juice, Snoop Dog, The Gourds 21. Rehab, Amy Winehouse 22. Chug-A-Lug, Roger Miller 23. Let's Get Drunk, Jimmy Buffett 24. Hey Bartender, Johnny Lee, Floyd Dixon 25. I Got Loaded, Peppermint Harris 26. One For My Baby, Frank Sinatra As you can guess there are just too many songs about drinking and I can only list this small sample. I think it does however bring the big picture about drinking songs into focus. Rosie Ingalls, Barb Miller and myself, D.J.Blast, propose a toast to all of you who continue to support our Sun Lakes Goodtimes Karaoke as you wait for our events to start up again, hopefully in the near future. We miss everyone who kept a song in his and her heart in support of our gatherings. Please don't lose faith as we move ahead with a positive frame of mind. Until then we will keep a warm, disinfected microphone on for you. Karaoke Group Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Do you like to sing?
