10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2020 | Sun Lakes Advisory Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes. Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! Things are beginning to happen! As I write this article on September 1st, it is difficult to know what October will bring, but we do know that the Charity event is planned for October 10th. It will be nice to be out with fellow Sun Lakers enjoying the day and maybe even winning the raffle or ball drop! A few items to note in this issue of Lifestyles: • Don't miss the pictures of people and pets dressed in their Halloween costumes • If you have not completed your age verification form, please do so • Make sure to submit what you are thankful for in 2020 for the November issue • Also submit what you are looking forward to in 2021 for the December issue. 2020 is almost over and we are all looking forward to a happier, healthier 2021. Lifestyles Advisory Library Advisory Due to state recommendations regarding COVID-19, libraries are still closed. At this time, books, puzzles, audio books and DVDs are available on the front patio at 5354 W. Pinehurst Dr. When the libraries re-open, the Main Clubhouse library hours will be 9 to 11 am and 1 to 3 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays, and the North Clubhouse library from 1 to 3 pm only Wednesdays through Saturdays. The South Clubhouse library is open 8 am to 8 pm every day. There will be monitors at the Main and North libraries to insure social distancing, i.e. one person in each library at a time unless from the same household. Masks are required, temperatures will be taken, and gloves and sanitizer are available in each library. Enjoy, be strong, safe and happy! Bingo Advisory Happy fall and Happy Halloween to our friends and players! Well here we are again and another month has passed without a Bingo reopening date. The last night we all played Bingo was March 10, 2020 — that's seven months ago. The Committee had plans to celebrate St. Patrick's Day the following week and hopefully we can do that again in 2021. Everything is tentative, but we are looking forward to a grand reopening of Bingo as guidelines permit in 2021. Until then stay safe and be well! Any questions? Call Toni (951) 769-4579 or Karen (951) 797-3817. Safety Advisory At the request of Chris Mitchell, General Manager, Securitas is now marshalling the golf course. Perhaps this is a trial project – we shall see what value this brings to the golf course since we have not had official marshals in the past. We are reminded that residents are to keep garage doors closed when not working in the garage. Your neighbors do not enjoy seeing the contents of your garage. Please make sure all doors - including vehicles – are locked. Also, the passcode to gain access to the account to add/delete guests to Sun Lakes is not to be shared with anyone. It has been discovered the passcodes were shared with family members who in turn added other persons to gain access to Sun Lakes. If you see something – say something. If you need the police – call 911. Securitas is not the police. Please refer to the "Do/Do Not" list posted on the Sun Lakes website which clearly spells out Securitas responsibilities. If you have something you would like the committee to review, please do not hesitate to contact me, Jean Dobson, at jmdobson45@hotmail.com or (951)922-6755. BABES Join the Beaumont Area Bug Eating Society (BABES) in the enjoyment, learning, and fun of eating bugs. Learn to love the pure and protein-packed crunchity goodness. Bugs are nutritionally rich yet low in calories. We share recipes, and once COVID is over, will have tastings and BBBQs (yes, that extra B is for bugs!). We do a monthly bug scavenger hunt to see if we can find new tastes in the community. Men and women welcome. There is only one rule… you must wear the bug costume — and mask! — at all times around the community and in your home.
