Happy Cookers
Rather than focusing on what we can't do with COVID, why not focus on what
we can do in spite of COVID. Another question… do you like cookies? Prepare
yourself. Happy Cookers would like to sponsor the First Annual Sun Lakes
Scarecrow Competition. All you have to do is make a Scarecrow for your front
yard in the month of October. Have fun, create a giggle and use your imagination.
Happy Cookers will provide a basket of homemade goodies as the grand prize
(recipes included). All residents are welcome to participate. Judging will take
place on Oct. 30 throughout the day and the Goodie Basket will be presented on
Halloween. Maybe you can smell the yummy goodies from here. For information

Speaking of cookies, try a new twist to your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe:
• Add orange zest to the recipe.
• Use only brown sugar and substitute additional brown sugar for the white.
• Add different sizes and flavors of chocolate.
• Try adding raisins, cranberries and or candied ginger. I like to soak my
raisins or cranberries in liquor overnight.
• Use nuts… walnuts, pecans, or even hazelnuts. Toast the nuts and cool
before adding.
• Double the amount of chocolate.
