FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2020 5
EXTERIOR HOME MAINTENANCE: To continue
keeping our community beautiful and well maintained, we ask that
homeowners take a look at the exterior of your homes and determine
whether they need a little face lift. The stucco, wood, garage door,
and home accents may need repair, replacement, and/or painting.
October may seem like an odd month to give this reminder, but this
is the perfect time to start the process of picking a vendor and getting
things lined up for springtime work.
Stucco should be painted at least every five to 10 years depending
on weather and sun exposure. Installers recommend at least every
five years in our desert climate. The process should include cleaning
and patching cracks prior to painting. Remember, if you are planning
to paint your home the original color you do not need to send an
application to the Architectural Review Committee. However, if you
are planning to paint your home a new color or change the color of
the accents, trim, or garage door, please consult the Architectural
Review Committee. They are more than happy to assist with the
application process to ensure a quick turnaround.
If you have noticed that your garage door opens or closes slowly or
not as smoothly as it once did, it may be time to have the hardware
cleaned and lubricated. Manufacturers recommend this be done
every two to three years to ensure good working condition on all of
those moving parts.
