| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2020 | 15 Social Committee The Social Committee would like to introduce Donna McLaughlin: "Happy fall everyone. I hope that you are enjoying some cooler weather and looking forward to the time that we can gather again for some fun Social Committee events. "You may have seen me zipping through The Lodge on several occasions over the years helping with some of our events like The Ladies Luncheon, The Fourth of July, Octoberfest, and of course, New Year's Eve. "I am Donna McLaughlin, co-chair of the Social Committee. I have enjoyed working on the Committee for several years and have had a great time attending and planning our events. I love our Four Seasons Community and want to thank all of the volunteers who help to make our events so successful and fun. Without you we could not do it. "Mike, my husband of 51 years, and I moved to Four Seasons from the San Diego area in 2006. We both grew up on the south side of Chicago and migrated to sunny California in 1979 from Columbus Ohio and, of course, THE Ohio State University after Mike's service in the Army and Vietnam. Mike was the Planning Director for San Diego Association of Governments and taught at SDSU. He retired in 2004 but continued to teach and consult even after we moved here. I met Mike in 1968 after college at Illinois Wesleyan University right before I was hired by American Airlines, and right before he was drafted. But we married anyway in 1969. Who ever thought it would last? I was a flight attendant for American Airlines based in San Diego and flew for 37 years before hanging up my high heels and wings in 2006. I have lots of memories and wonderful stories about the celebrities and places that I flew like New York, Paris, Hawaii, London, and Tokyo. I think my flight over 9/11 was probably the event that changed my life. I was flying from Paris to LAX that day but eventually landed back in Paris for five days before returning safely home. I flew for five more years before retiring but it was never quite the same. "My life now is a little more quiet but I still love keeping busy. The Social Committee keeps me going and my family too. My family is number one in my heart. We have two lovely daughters, three exceptional grandchildren, and our family dog, Gordon, and 'Yes!' they all keep me going too!" In August, we hosted two Virtual Scavenger Hunts. Congratulations to Meredith Becker and Carol Turnbo for having absolutely every item on the list. Who knew? A big shout out to Michael Passero of Edward Jones for sponsoring the games. We hope you will join us on Oct. 30 for our Halloween Golf Cart Parade. Ride along with us or cheer from your driveway. The parade will line up beginning at 6 pm in front of The Lodge. Look for email blasts from our Activities Director, Tracie Rodgers.
