From the President - Gary Sopata: Welcome to the beginning of the last quarter of our golf year. Our most prestigious tournament is held this month — our annual Club Championship. Please insure you sign up to participate in this great annual tournament. You won't regret it! Also, we will be starting our search for 2021 Board Members this month. President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are all elected board positions in our club. Our election is due to be held the first Tuesday in November for these elected positions. All other board positions are appointed. These include Tournaments, Rules, Membership, Social Activities, Handicap and Greens Liaison. We have not held a General Membership meeting since the first quarter of the year due to the coronavirus. We also have been unable to have a social get together such as a BBQ or Pizza Party. As soon as we can socially gather and abide by county guidelines we will schedule these important events. In the meantime… get out and play and enjoy our weekly events! Melody Lewis is moving to San Diego. She will be missed. Bernie Sebzda will take on the role of addressing handicap issues and questions. From the Membership Chair – Larry Becker: Have lunch on us! We are in the middle of a membership drive. Any new member will get lunch at the golf clubhouse paid for by Hemet Golf Club the first time he or she plays. (This club is open for both men and women.) We have a great group of members that enjoy getting out to play some golf. There are various types of tournaments spread out over the month on Tuesdays. If you are looking for a fun social time, now is the time to join us. Cost is $66 annually which covers club dues and handicap through SCGA. Please email me at Larrybecker03@ aol.com or phone me at (951) 662-6068. Applications are also available at the front desk in The Lodge. From the Tournament Chair - Elliot Yaeger: You may sign up for golf at the golf course prior to Tuesday's golf event or send an email to hemet4sgc@gmail.com by Monday noon. The cart parades take place on the Fourth of July (a patriotic theme) and during the holidays close to Christmas (a holiday theme). We get great turn outs for these two events, and you are encouraged to participate in either or both events. U.S. flags are posted in everyone's yard and the two major streets by members of the Golf Cart Club on eight days of the year (three on Four Seasons and World Cup only and five days on all streets). This effort requires the dedicated work of 14 members and their spouses of the Golf Cart Club. I am sure that you will want to thank them for their contribution to our community. Most of these residents have been doing this task for many years. Ginny Coleweaver, Kelly and Sharon Collier, Chuck and Jean Farr, John and Colleen Ferguson, Cecil and Debbie Frazier, Maggie and Bob Fussell, Bonnie and Tom Moore, Mike and Donna McLaughlin, John and Sandi O'Connor, Greg and Bev Rockvam, Kevin and Roxie Snider, Don and Sharon Sims, Carrie Stephens and Dave and Char Weakly. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! They are very much appreciated! If you want to join the Golf Cart Club and/ or help with the flags, please give me, Mike McLaughlin a call at (951) 325-8757 or send an e-mail at mikemcla43@aol.com.
