Is anyone feeling that we need to take an energy pill to think of more creative ways to keep ourselves busy during this crazy time? Staff has been wearing their masks all these months and after leaving work, we slip into the car seat and drop the mask. It almost feels like we are still wearing a mask when we take it off. Can anyone explain this? And another thing to contemplate, how is it the mask reduces the ability to hear? It appears we are all doing our best to lighten our concerns regarding the pandemic. With the outside recreational areas open, with some requiring appointments, we have come a long way from where we began. The Fitness Center has opened to allow a 10 percent capacity and the Recreation Department is using the same reservation system for the pool and bocce. We have experienced a decrease in pool reservations, as the Fitness Rooms opened. Reservations are on the hour, with one person allowed in each room, access to the rooms is from the outside doors closest to the golf cart path. Sanitizing of the equipment is required. Please bring bottled water and a towel. We continue to review the possibilities to open other areas and activities, in keeping with the county guidelines. Services continue to include copies, fax requests, golf bag tags, directories, and acting as a mailbox for a variety of clubs. Staff is calling those clubs that may need to access their club folder to keep the process going. We do refer calls to the appropriate club officers. Call the Clubhouse and we will be happy to assist. For the Month of October: Sat., Oct. 10, 9 am to 1 pm, Overflow Parking Lot, Drive-Thru Flu Shots administered by Walgreens. Securitas to assist with traffic flow. See SERT Club article for more information. For those who have yet to see the Clubhouse interior, an appointment can be made. We can only tour those that live here; no guests permitted at this time. The Recreation Department welcomes a new employee, Jose Martinez. Jose is part of our Facilities crew working on the outside recreational areas and as the 'overlap' on the weekends. Jose lives in Oceanside, has two daughters, previously worked at Scripps Hospital, loves to cook and play soccer. Welcome to Jose! So, Halloween is on its way with some counties restricting "Trick or Treat," for children this year. Now, that would be a BIG adjustment for most parents. Residents have inquired, in the past, as to whether there are trick or treaters that visit OHCC. Unfortunately, the answer is "no," we know so many would enjoy the little ones and their smiling faces. This year it will be everyone wearing "happy masks." Do share some of these jokes with the grandchildren and laugh. Happy Halloween! • What do birds say on Halloween? "Trick or tweet!" • Why don't skeletons ever go trick or treating? Because they have nobody to go with. • Where do ghosts buy their Halloween candy? At the ghost-ery store! • What do owls say when they go trick or treating? "Happy Owl- ween!" • What do ghosts give out to trick or treaters? Booberries! • Who did Frankenstein go trick or treating with? His ghoul friend. • What Halloween candy is never on time for the party? Choco- LATE! • What do witches put on to go trick or treating? Mas-scare-a. • What does Big foot say when he asks for candy? "Trick-or-feet!" • Which type of pants do ghosts wear to trick or treat? Boo jeans. • What makes trick or treating with twin witches so challenging? You never know which witch is which!
