22 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2020 | Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Art Lovers It's been so long since we have all met together and we are longing for our first meeting in our beautifully renovated Clubhouse. Some of our Board members were treated to a tour of the Clubhouse and were very impressed with the new décor. In the meantime, we enjoyed a Zoom presentation by watercolor artist, Jayne Spencer on the health and emotional benefits of being creative. Jayne has six instructional videos on YouTube which you will find interesting. We are eagerly anticipating when she will do a watercolor demonstration for us either in person or by Zoom on Nov. 10. Time will tell. Oceanside Museum of Art has offered a wealth of art information for us on their website: https://oma-online.org/. The Southern California Contemporary Quilt Show was fascinating and can still be viewed from OMA on YouTube. You can also take virtual museum tours of New York City's Fabulous Four, Treasures of Washington, D.C., and Gems of the Great Midwest, Chicago and Kansas City. There will also be studio visits of artists, Larry Vogel and Barbara Runge. From 1919 to 1956, the Gardena High School student body selected, purchased, and donated some 70 works of art to the high school. The students' choices show a high level of sophistication. The Gardena High School Art Collection is a remarkable collection of early 20th century American art that also stands as one of the best exemplars of a high school art collection in the country. This exceptional collection can be viewed on https://oma-online.org. Even if we can't visit OMA there is a lot to explore in our own homes so, let's take advantage of all that is offered online. We have enjoyed several art videos sent by members. One, in particular, was spectacular, https://1funny.com/magical-van-gogh-exhibit/ and worth watching again. Good news! The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park is now open. Visit their website at https://www.sdmart.org for reopening guidelines. Oceanside Museum of Art reopened on Sept. 17.
