| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2020 | 33 Several members have been seen out and about walking on Leisure Village Way. We still want to get our daily steps in! Here are some updates: Marlene Tanner: Marlene wishes that we could have classes safely keeping distance or even outside. These are really tough times for everyone especially those of us who live alone. The exciting item in Marlene's life is the fact that her grandson and his wife are expecting twin girls in mid February. Marlene stays fit by walking Barney the dog who weighs more than she does! Marlene sends good thoughts for us to stay well. Kathy Kelsay: Kathy has been to the beach more this summer than any other year since she has lived in Ocean Hills, so that is a plus. She has participated in YouTube aerobics videos that at least give her something to do. But she admits that she is getting tired of the videos. She also walks when it is not too hot. Alice Byrne: Alice wants to add how much she misses our aerobics class. Pam Bechill: This is it! See the photo of some of the puzzles that Pam has done. Rose Ann Wooldridge: Rose Ann reports that she misses Christine and everyone in our aerobics class. She can't wait until we start up again and to make use of our beautiful clubhouse. Rose Ann has been keeping busy at the San Diego Botanic Garden where she is a docent. "The Garden is my Happy Place." If you are tired of walking Leisure Village Way, make a reservation online and visit the San Diego Botanic Garden. The Garden is open with very safe procedures in place. She volunteers every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and she hopes to see you there! (see photo) Christine Alesiani: Christine misses all of her students and she looks forward to when classes can begin safely following guidelines. She has been a teacher at Ocean Hills for 14 years. Christine is more than our teacher. She is a caring friend who knows us as individuals. Christine sends her encouragement for us to stay positive, take one day at a time, have gratitude for the good things in our lives, and to keep moving which is so good for the body and the brain. Margie Raisigel: Margie and her buddy Gloria Lipitz have walked four miles each morning for the last six months. The walk is routine, but they keep each other motivated. Margie said that she could not ask for a better friend! Stay well everyone. Consider keeping in touch with friends and neighbors who live alone or are feeling isolated during this time. Aerobics Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. We hope you are well and have been enjoying the beautiful weather this summer. Welcome to the fall season and please remember to exercise a few times each week so you can stay healthy and feel your best during this very difficult pandemic. It is important to wear a mask if you cannot be six feet away. If you want to continue with the Chair Yoga exercises with our OHCC instructors use YouTube videos. Since we cannot meet in person during this time in the Clubhouse due to COVID-19, here are two suggestions for you to exercise at your home with our very own Ocean Hills Senior Fitness instructors Cheryl Todd and Tatis Cervantes-Aiken. It is free and all you need is a sturdy folding chair. These Chair Yoga exercises each last approximately one hour. When the Clubhouse opens, we'll meet again. Instructions: Go to the URL line on your computer. Type in YOUTUBE.COM/HARMONYGROVEYOGA and you will get a video with Cheryl Todd teaching the Chair yoga class. Just follow her example using a sturdy chair. Go to the URL line on your computer. Type in TATISCERVANTES and you will see her Lively Chair Yoga Class with Tatis Cervantes- Aiken. Sit in your sturdy chair and start the chair yoga exercise. It is as easy as that. Senior Fitness Club
