Table Tennis/Ping Pong This is the second article written for the November issue of Lifestyles in the past three days. Almost everything I wrote on Oct. 5 changed yesterday after a meeting called for by Bruno. First of all if you are not aware Bruno relinquished the leadership of the group due to age and health issues. Roland Lau stepped up to lead the group. Dennis Sauer will write the articles for Lifestyles and work with the Recreation Department on the monthly schedule. Frank Bruckner and Ken Swanson will be backups for Roland during any time he is away or otherwise unavailable. Now for the news we've been waiting for - the Ballroom is open for play. There will (for now) be restrictions we will need to follow. They are as follows: 1. Our normal play times stay the same: M-W-F, 4 - 6 pm, Sat. 10 am - 12 noon 2. All players MUST enter the Main Clubhouse through the front doors. 3. Masks MUST be worn. 4. Temperatures will be taken at Lobby Reception desk before being allowed into Ballroom. 5. Personal Paddles Only - SLCC paddles will not be available at this time. Tables, Nets, and Balls will be supplied as usual. 6. Singles play ONLY - No Doubles until further notice. 7. Two players on each table with all other players spaced appropriately in chairs along the walls. 8. Rotate players onto an open table after current players finish their game. We will experiment with one game at a time or a best two out of three set to see what works out best. This is NEW to all of us and is due to COVID-19. We will see what works and what doesn't. All suggestions will be discussed for improving our enjoyment. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 to 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). Because the Ballroom is such a popular venue for so many varied events, our time slot sometimes gets canceled. Therefore if you are not a regular attendee please refer to the Sun Lakes website at sunlakescc.com and click on "Recreation" then click on "Classes," and finally click on "Table Tennis Group" for the current months up to date schedule. You can also check the Main Clubhouse events board across from the recreation desk or call the reception desk at (951) 845-2191 for that days calendar. We have all skill levels currently participating and welcome all newcomers. We have several newer quality tables, and all the equipment is provided free by the Sun Lakes Recreation Department.
