14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2020 | Sun Lakes Advisory Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes. Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! The "Friends We Will Miss" page of the Lifestyles magazine is precious to all of us, as we read about fellow Sun Lakers who are no longer with us, and mourn their loss. It has been requested that a photograph be included to help us recognize someone we may not necessarily know by name. Beginning with the January issue of Lifestyles, a picture may be submitted along with the text obituary. Please keep the following in mind regarding this change: 1. Only one picture will be permitted. 2. Pictures submitted should be high resolution and submitted electronically. 3. It is recommended that the picture be a recent one to help people better recognize the person. 4. As always, items must be submitted by the sixth day of the month prior to the magazine issue. So items for the January 2021 issue are due by Dec. 6, 2020. 5. Please submit to: sunlakesnews@yahoo.com 6. Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to when all activities resume here in Sun Lakes, calendars are packed full, and Lifestyles shares all of that with you. Lifestyles Advisory Library Advisory Our libraries are open! The Main Clubhouse library is open from 9 to 11am and 1 to 3 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays. The North Clubhouse library is open from 1 to 3 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays. The South clubhouse library is open 6 am to 8 pm every day. There are monitors at the Main and North libraries to insure social distancing, i.e. one person in each library at a time unless from the same household. Masks are strongly recommended, and gloves and sanitizer are available in each library. If interested in volunteering for our libraries as a shelver next year, please contact Joy at (951) 845-5540. Interested in serving on the Library Advisory Committee? Please complete an interest form at the MCH reception desk or call Leeann at (951) 777-5700. The North Clubhouse library has many new puzzles. Enjoy, be strong, safe and happy! Bingo Advisory Greetings to all! Well now it's November 2020 and this month we will honor and celebrate our bravest citizens on Veterans Day and give thanks for all we have on Thanksgiving Day. The Bingo Advisory Committee is proud to announce we have donated $1,000 to the Sun Lakes Ninth Annual Veterans Day event sponsored by the Recreation Department on Nov. 11. This event is a very worthy cause and everyone needs to support this effort. Everything is tentative for reopening Tuesday night Bingo, but we are looking forward to a grand reopening as guidelines permit in 2021. Until then stay safe and be well! Any questions? Call Toni (951) 769-4579 or Karen (951) 797-3817. Safety Advisory It was brought to the attention of the committee that pedestrians are walking through the driveway instead of using their key to access the sidewalk. This is very dangerous. Especially entering or exiting Gate 1, it is difficult to see pedestrians because the driveway curves. Securitas may issue citations for not using the pedestrian gate. If you have lost your key, please contact administration for a new one. Many garage doors are constantly left open. Unless you are exiting/entering your garage or working in the garage, the door is to be closed. There are several products on the market for garage door censors that alert you if the door is left open. A light mounted on the inside of the house is "on" if the door is open, but "off " when the door is closed. These systems can be purchased for as little as $20 and up. Remember also, leaving your garage door open could be tempting to thieves. The committee is not recommending or endorsing any particular product or retailer — this is for your information to pursue, if you wish. Remember to check that your guest's parking pass is correct. If your guest enters for a day visit, then decides to spend the night, they must return to the gate for an overnight pass. It is recommended you check that the pass is correctly issued for the appropriate length of visit. If you have a subject you would like the committee to review, please do not hesitate to contact Jean Dobson (909) 731-4113 or jmdobson45@hotmail.com.
