22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2020 | Hello everyone, the holidays are upon us. They will look different than they have in the past, but we will prevail. I read an article in one of my magazines recently about rhythm and how it relates to us. Rhythm not only in how we dance but how we live. The author said life itself has a rhythm, such as the rhythm in the four seasons of the year. In spring, we come out of hibernation from the winter with renewed life and energy. During the summer we become more active, changing our life's rhythm. The beauty of rhythm is you make your own way through life at your own speed. Like music notes on a sheet of paper, we write our own rhythm to suit our way of life. May this holiday season have a positive rhythm for you and your family. Our Ladies Club still has a rhythm. We try to stay connected. We as a group still provide for the needs of the local community in a way of donations to Valley Restart here in Hemet. We will be asking our members and neighbors who wish to donate for the month of November to donate paper goods such as paper plates, paper cups, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins and laundry soap. If you wish to donate but don't get out to shop they do accept money. Please drop off your donations at my home by Nov. 20. I will also be sending a reminder email to all our members to keep you informed. I wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. It is with great hope that we will all be back together as a group real soon. Stay safe. If you have any questions, contact Lucille Gould at (951) 325- 8366. Drop off address is 8210 Campbell Ct. FS Ladies Club Needle Me Last month the group was pleased to welcome another new member, Margene Taylor, and yet another craft, Bobbin Lace. I had never heard of Bobbin Lace, so I had to look it up on the Internet to find out exactly what it is. Margene was kind enough to send me a picture of some of her work to feature with this article. Bobbin Lace, also known as Pillow Lace, is a lace textile made by braiding and twisting lengths of thread, which are wound on bobbins to manage them. As the work progresses, the weaving is held in place with pins set in a lace pillow, the placement of the pins is usually determined by a pattern or pricking pinned on the pillow. So if you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or any other type of needlework and would like to socialize with some of your neighbors who enjoy the same, please come join us in the Craft Room on the first and fourth Fridays of the month from 1 to 3 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Bobbie Davis at (951) 223-3836 or Maggie Fussell at (951) 388-7640. Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, & time. Players Theater is currently working on new scripts for 2021. We hope to have performance dates by the end of the year. Our first performance (hopefully in March) will be Grand Night of Musical Theater directed by Noreen Scott. The play features segments of famous musicals including, South Pacific, The King and I, West Side Story, and "My Fair Lady." We will announce the date as soon as we know (umm… when things are safe!). We are also having readings for two other plays for next year. They are Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DiPietro, directed by Chris Pounders and Chuck Sims. It is a hilarious and moving comedy about love between grandparents and grandson, and how the grandparents conspire to keep their grandson from moving out of state. The third play is written by our own Rudy Rich and Sandy Tiffin, entitled, To Be or Not. It is a tender story of a retired English Professor who has lost his wife, is estranged from his children, and temporarily confined to a nursing home. While there, he reconsiders his life and ponders whether it is worth continuing. Will the possibility of finding love again influence his decision? We sincerely hope you and your family stay safe during these turbulent times. We hope to see you soon! ~ Chris Pounders, Chair Players Theater TGIF Once again, we are unable to start TGIF/Karaoke in November. That being said, we want everyone to know we miss all of you and hope you are safe and in good health. We will continue to monitor the virus situation and will keep in touch to let you know when it is safe to start having TGIF/Karaoke again. Watch for updates monthly in the Herald and also in emails from The Lodge. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
