| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2020 | 25
And, just like that, it's November, and we're still here, making
plans for when it's safe to come out and play again.
This is the season that Sewing Etc. always joins hands with our
Woodchucks to bring joy to the children of Camp Pendleton. All
year long (in normal times) our Woodchucks make cradles and toys,
such as airplanes, trains, trucks, and cars, to be distributed by the Y
located on the base. The beautifully painted cradles get matched up
with our quilts. This year, we were lucky that the Woodchucks had
cradles in reserve, which will allow our two clubs to bring smiles to
those kids' faces this year, just like in the past.
Along with the toys and cradles, Sewing, Etc. has been making
holiday stockings all year long, just like always. There are well over
a hundred (probably closer to two hundred) of these imaginative
hand-crafted items heading to the base, so that no child will be left
out.
We are still Zooming on Fridays at noon to bolster our spirits,
and still conducting our monthly meetings on the first Thursday of
every month at 9:30 am on Zoom, too. We are proud to say that we
have 4 new members despite the limitations we are experiencing,
which is a great thing!
If anyone would like to participate in our activities and is not
sure of who to reach out to during this time, please call Chris
Sanderson (858) 442-1834, or MaryLu Belisle (562) 454-1931 for
more information. Also, please visit our website, lovingly updated
by Terri Eckhardt, http://ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing.
All are welcome to join us. Dues are $7 per year. A 2020
membership applies for 2021 also! Our meetings are normally held
at 9:30 am on the first Thursday of each month…we look forward
to seeing you!
Sewing, Etc.
Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
