Even though our lives have been upended for a time, most all of us have things for which to be thankful. Our library is currently collecting the open shelf books that were borrowed before the library closed. We are also collecting any donations you may have accumulated over the previous months. The donation box is located by the door to the Lamia Room (formerly the Ladies Club Room). A BIG thank you to the OHCC Clubhouse staff. They have taken on the responsibility of putting out the cart in front of the Lamia Room for collecting the returned library books. This help is very much appreciated. Another thank you to librarians Sharon Andrews, Alice Robeson, Ella Jarf, Ruth Schafer, and other librarians for sorting and re-shelving the returned books so they are ready when the library reopens. The library volunteers are delivering new purchases to those who have requested them. When your name comes to the top of the request list, you will be called, and the book will be delivered to your door. Such service! So, please continue to sign up for the books in which you are interested. All new releases can be found on the library website. That is also the place to request a book. September book purchases include such authors as Louise Penny, James Patterson, Iris Johansen, Stuart Woods, Brad Thor, David Lee Burke, and many others. October book purchases include such authors as Dean Koontz, Debbie Macomber, and Elin Hilderbrand. One book available that might interest political followers is Our Time is Now by Stacey Abrams. Abrams is an author, political leader, and former Representative in the Georgia House of Representatives. The book offers a blueprint to end what she believes is voter suppression in our country. The book has received excellent reviews.
