| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2020 | 27 Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Woodchucks This last month our Woodchucks were challenged by the OHCC Village Vets to bring some joy to the Marines of the 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Camp Pendleton. Some of us traveled to the base and learned of the Marine efforts to create a first- class Recreation Hall in their new quarters. We designed the two pieces shown in the photos. The rolling lanai cart that Daniel Sansoni is detailing, will hold a large ice chest for their parties. To organize the required (50) essential beer mugs, we built two racks utilizing the provided 50 caliber shells as hangers. With each visit to the base, we see many of the selfless gentlemen who serve us, and we are blessed for the opportunity to pay it forward with our small Woodchuck efforts. The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) is ecstatic about the generous outpouring of gifts collected at the OHCC Garden Club's toy drive. Because of the restrictions due to the Coronavirus, there will be no gift celebration at the Clubhouse. The "Y" has asked us to limit the handling of the gifts and are asking us to use the monies raised to purchase gifts through mail order. We have requested a wishlist of gifts needed, including actual toys, bikes, gift cards, as well as required ages and quantities. With the "Y" wish list and your donated dollars, it will be a memorable holiday. The heirloom cradles with the Sewing Club's quilts and hand-made stockings will be delivered to the base along with the toys created by the Woodchucks and your generous drop-off donations. This should lift our combined spirits as we approach the holiday season. Thanks to all of you for the support you give to the sawdust makers at the Woodchuck burrow.
