30 | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2020 | Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. In September, RV Club members traveled to Park City, Utah. Wagon masters were Jim and Veronica Chapman, Ken and Gay Spencer, and WOW coordinator Jeanne Brantman. Among the activities they enjoyed were ATV rides in the High Uinta mountains at about 10,000 foot elevation and rafting on the lower Provo River in Provo Canyon just upstream from Provo, Utah. Thank you to our super wagon masters and coordinators for making this trip possible. The last RV Club event of 2020 was the Drive- thru Meal event in early October. As members drove through the RV Lot, there was live music by the club band and a delicious take-home turkey or steak meal from Bobby's Hideaway. Also, memorable photos were taken against seasonal back drops to celebrate the event. Some came in costume and festive clothing. It was so nice to see familiar faces even though it was too brief. Thank you to Tatis Cervantes Aiken and the RV Club social committee for putting this event together. Are you thinking about trips for 2021? Then you need to go to the RV Club website and read the latest issue of The Open Road and see what is already on the calendar. RV Club Hi golf people and some others. Not much going on except Touring Amateurs and people playing here quite nicely according to the rules of the COVID. Really, there is plenty of open space out there and not that many golfers, so get out there and play. Speaking of Touring Amateurs, we played Twin Oaks in September and it is a really nice 6,500 yards or so course. Just right for the OHCC folks. And the pic shows the winners of the best gross score which was a terrific 66. It is the foursome of James Mulvey, Mike Ross looking a bit thin, Michael Gordon and Wayne Schwabenland. I was thinking about the course and found that an average drive by Bryson Dechambeau would have been on the green nine of the 18 holes and he would be on in two on the other nine. Probably would have shot a 41 or less. I just had a nice conversation with Greg Cies, the first vice president of the golf club. The president is out of town as of this column's deadline. He assured me that the Men's day and Ladies day golf are coming back as soon as possible and that they have already figured out the necessary steps to keep us all safe. By the time you read this, the word will be out to all of you. And please adhere to the rules so we can continue to play. Our thanks, also, go out to Chris Bessey and Wendy Panizza who have spent all the time necessary to bring this to fruition. Jokes: Golfer to his Caddy: I wish you would stop checking your watch as I am playing within the time rules. Caddy: Sir, it is not a watch, it is my GPS and Compass. Golfer to her Caddy: Do you think I can get to the green with my 5 iron? Caddy: Eventually, yes, Mrs. Smith Serious Golfer to Caddy: I have played poorly all day. Think I will just throw myself in the lake and drown. Caddy: Not sure sir if you can hold your head down long enough. Lastly, since we cannot gather to have a brewski after the game, why not take it all with you on our newest COVID Golf Cart as you play. This one carries 72 beers to match a normal course par.
