| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2020 | 13 What I am looking forward to in 2021? I think it's okay to be nostalgic, or, as I call it, pandemic-induced nostalgia. I find myself wistfully scrolling through old Instagram and FB pictures remembering when I could stand near my friends and family and just hug them. What I look forward to in 2021 "normal" is: I want to sit at the bar with my friends and drink a margarita and listen to the entertainers singing on the Veranda. I want to walk around in Sephora and shop for makeup, or run to Marshall's or Home Goods and browse and shop. I want to hop in the golf cart and go to a Garden Club Meeting, Genealogy or a Happy Cookers meeting, where afterwards friends gather at the restaurant spending hours just chatting over lunch. I want the spontaneity of running into friends in the community and deciding to go to a movie or dinner, going to a SLCC concert, club parties and socializing. I want to pop over to a friend's home and sit and talk on the patio not wearing masks. But mostly I look forward to camaraderie, hugging and sharing with family and friends in 2021. ~ Raelene Kretchman I'm definitely looking forward to meeting with my friends here at Sun Lakes, on the Veranda, in the evening… Live music, drinks from the bar and lots of animated conversations! Getting up to dance and singing along to the music... No face masks or social distancing required! I want to see the smiles on everyone's faces... ~ Laurie Williams I think we all have great hopes of what 2021 will look like. Personally, I am just hoping to stay healthy and be able to continue doing what I am doing now. I look forward to traveling with my friend again, just to enjoy each other's company and laugh together as we have in the past. To be "away "and have a change of scenery. I hope to travel with my older son to San Francisco to see my other son and his family. We did that a couple years ago and had such a memorable time. Many hoots being around the little grands. I still have several neglected projects to attack. I often tell myself I hope I live long enough to complete most of the things on my to do list. Or rather, my "want to do" list. Mainly, I'm looking forward to leaving 2020 behind and anticipating a brighter, more beautiful new year. I pray people can learn to get along and show some love for one another instead of the current repugnant attitudes so many are displaying. ~ Sallie Flesher Planning is underway for Charity Week 2021. Mark your calendar for the first week in June. The Sun Lakes Charitable Trust is making a difference. In the Sun Lakes Lifestyles Magazine earlier in 2020, we shared the target for this coronavirus year. It was to "raise $50,000 this year through your donations, so the San Gorgonio Pass area charities could continue their good works." Should be no surprise, but it happened. Sun Lakers who like to have a fun time at all the Charitable Trust events responded by sending money, and this troubled year we have distributed $51,000 to local charities. A huge thank you for your donations of over $26,000 and for the purchase of Raffle and Helicopter Ball Drop tickets. Some people were winners but most of all the big winners were the local charities. ~ David Marshall Kealy, Chairman, Sun Lakes Country Club Charitable Trust Looking ahead
