52 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2020 | Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Table Tennis/Ping Pong With the restrictions caused by the pandemic, our times, days, and location may change. Normally, we play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 to 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). Because the Ballroom is such a popular venue for so many varied events, our time slot sometimes gets canceled. Therefore if you are not a regular attendee please refer to the Sun Lakes website at sunlakescc.com and click on "Recreation" then click on "Classes," and finally click on "Table Tennis Group" for the current months up to date schedule. You can also check the Main Clubhouse events board across from the recreation desk or call the reception desk at (951) 845-2191 for that days calendar. We have all skill levels currently participating and welcome all newcomers. We have several newer quality tables, and all the equipment is provided free by the Sun Lakes Recreation Department. A fun way to exercise! Please come give us a try. There are no fees. Laced tennis shoes required - no exceptions! For information, contact Roland at (951) 769-3978. Bocce is over for the year. The Fall Fun Run was just that — fun! Thirty-two teams met for nine weeks. Since nothing was on the line in terms of winners, we felt sure some teams would fall by the wayside, but that didn't happen. All of the teams turned out each week. The format was popular with just about everyone, particularly those who are a little less mobile. The players changed ends of the court only once during the game, when one of the teams reached 8 points. For those of you who don't know, there were four players at each end of the court, two from one team and two from the other team. The players each threw two balls. The referee kept the score. Interaction was kept to a minimum for safety's sake. Also we only played on courts one and three. It's very possible we may have to do the same thing when bocce ball resumes in January. Stay tuned and stay safe and healthy. Questions, call Dutch, (951) 845-0392. Happy holidays to you all! Friends of Bocce Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai Chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class. If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi and join fellow Sun Lakers in developing strength in balance, stamina, and flexibility. Info., Dee Coughtry, (951) 381- 4919. Tai Chi
