Narrative for September Financials 6 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2020 | Message from the GM By Christopher Mitchell First, I would like to wish you and your families a happy holiday. As you know, the budget for 2021 was approved at the Oct. 28 Open Session meeting. The approved budget, along with the required disclosures, will be mailed to homeowners. Looking back on this year, we have experienced health, social, and economic issues that have not only affected our community, but our nation as well. We have been able to adapt to the social distancing and other health requirements, but unfortunately have had to reduce the usage of many amenities. As we enter 2021, we may still be dealing with the pandemic and many amenities may still be closed. I ask for your patience and understanding during this time. We are hoping for a better 2021 that will see a return to normalcy in Sun Lakes. Take care and stay safe. For the month of September, Operating Revenue was $907,651 bringing Year to Date Operating Revenues to $8,622,488. Revenue recognition has been significantly altered due to FASB 606 which was incorporated in our financial reporting mid-year and is why there are significant reported under budget revenue variances. Total Operating Expenses for September were $850,097 and $303,620 below Budget bringing YTD total Operating Expenses to $8,868,083 and $1,042,484 below Budget. Below Budget spending is primarily due to the closure of the restaurant. Net Income for September was $57,554 and $89,286 better than Budget, bringing the YTD Loss to $245,595 and $107,021 under Budget. The YTD Loss includes a non-Budgeted, non-cash depreciation amount of $100,638 which for Budget comparison purposes reduces the YTD loss to $144,958 versus a Budgeted YTD loss of $138,574 or $6,384 under Budget. The September Balance Sheet was basically unchanged from August with total assets of $12,847,991 including Cash and Investments of $12,155,330. Current Liabilities were $1,385,498, but net of reverses, deposits, and prepaids, is $741,964. MEETINGS: December Board Meeting Open Session Dec. 9 at 6:30 pm. No Open Session on the fourth Wed (12-23). No delegate mtg. in December. ADMINISTRATION OFFICE – PHONE CALLS COVID-19 has significantly affected the operation of the SLCC Administration Office due to imposed county and state ordinances. However, we continue to strive to provide our members with excellent customer service. We want you to be aware of what to expect to help reduce frustration if you are unable to immediately reach a member of our on-site team by telephone. Our office is open, by appointment only, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 to 5 pm. State and county ordinances require the administration office remains locked. This allows us to control the number of people in the office and adhere to the imposed requirements that limit the number of people we can meet with at one time. There is a steady stream of members who visit the office daily to meet with staff. When we are working with a homeowner, we do not pick up the telephone. Instead, calls are forwarded to our voicemail. Please call the Main Clubhouse receptionist at (951) 845-2191 Monday – Friday, from 8 am to 12 pm and 1 to 5 pm if you need someone immediately. Otherwise, call the staff member you need to speak with directly. If the call goes to voicemail, please leave a message. Under normal circumstances, your call will be returned as soon as possible or at the latest, within 24 hours Monday – Friday. We truly appreciate your patience during this time, and we are thankful to have the opportunity to serve you.
