Update your File of Life. If you don't have one, call your Delegate. (You'll need to use the orange card during our annual drill.) Let your Zone Captain know if you have special needs, including a need for electricity in a blackout or help with mobility in an emergency. Let your ZC know when you go on vacation, too. Check emergency "Go-Bags" for each member of your household. Include everything you'll need for a few days, from documents to medications to water and sustenance. There are AEDs (defibrillators) and first aid kits in each clubhouse and the pro shop. EPAP NEEDS VOLUNTEERS. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Executive Team, or as a District Program Director or Coordinator, please contact Brandie Perez at ladymedic21@gmail.com. EPAP's emergency telephone number, available 24/7, is (951) 524- 3126. EPAP is here to help! By Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly Here we are at the end of a year of "infamy." We all hope it does not go too far into 2021, but who knows what our Governor and County will do. It is probably a good time to look back on 2020 and see what really happened. Our traffic has slowed down and better stops are being made at the corners. It appears our Sun Lake's "inmates" accepted the warnings and admonitions. We probably have saved some lives by following the rules. On the Food & Beverage (F&B) survey the question about the "use it or lose it" was not really explained completely. Not many residents knew or understood that all of us were paying $14.53 each month toward the food operation. We have been paying some monthly subsidy for the F&B operation every month that you have lived here. Many said they didn't want to pay for the restaurants because they didn't use them — would never use them. Well, we have news for you, when you move into Sun Lakes you are responsible for all financial matters. You are part owner of the whole complex. If we had a monthly F&B charge each month you would have a chance of paying nothing by visiting the restaurants and eating the monthly charge. It should be noted that we elect members to the Board of Directors each year. We have given the five Board members the power over our finances and our lifestyle. You cannot tell them what to do if you don't like some of the decisions the Board makes. If you want to make those decisions, run for the Board in the next election. A few of our members are upset about the Spectrum contract. The contract saves each homeowner a huge amount every month. Spectrum was already serving the WiFi and Internet to 75 percent of our residents. The average charge per home was approximately $49 per month. We will now receive more equipment and better service for $15 per month. We should pat ourselves on the back for our participation in the San Gorgonio Pass Area. In the past, our people have volunteered in schools, charities, law enforcement, child care, adult care, colleges, and on and on. By way of Sun Lakes Charities we have donated funds by the thousands every year for the benefit of the needy and our neighbors. In the spirit of our founders, let us not lose the friendliness and cooperation we enjoy. During the years of selling homes, the builders had a saying that is as true today as it was back then --- "IT'S THE PEOPLE!"
