| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2020 | 3 From the President By Sandra Moyer It is that time of year. Time for festivities, family get togethers and traditions. Yet it is different. Now we have to adjust and be a little creative due to COVID but we are resilient and strong. We will survive all the madness of 2020. Sun Lakes will still have the Districts trees up and lit, but no gathering at the Main Clubhouse. If permissible, depending on CDC guidelines at the time, the Recreation Department is putting together a Golf Cart Parade. Decorate those carts, keep 6 feet apart, wear your masks and we will drive up and down Country Club to look at all the lit trees. Here are events and Board actions that took place in November: 1. As of this writing, the Restaurant has not yet opened, but I am sure that starting Nov. 18 the residents supported the opening along with Curbside Service and the Thanksgiving meals. Please be aware that there is no longer an automatic 15 percent gratuity for parties under 6, so please tip your servers. 2. The Budget was approved and your new monthly assessment starting Jan.1, 2021, will be $307. Most of the increase, $19.50, covers the new Internet and Cable Contract, leaving $5.50 towards the operations of Sun Lakes. By the time you get this Lifestyles you should have received a letter of instructions from Spectrum dealing with the changeover. If you have questions, please call Spectrum or Administration. The new Budget will be mailed to you by Nov. 30. 3. The new golf rates and payment plan were approved and have been posted on all the normal venues. 4. We reached our mandatory 80 percent for Age Verification. Thank you to all residents who promptly replied and to the Staff and Delegates who worked so hard to get us to our goal. 5. Eblasts have started here in Sun Lakes. We have over 2,600 residents who have signed up for this service. If you have not yet signed up, please check your November Lifestyles for directions or call Administration. By using eblasts, you will be given real time updates on Restaurant and Golf specials, and Emergency Alerts that may affect Sun Lakes. 6. The Board has agreed to continue to allow the Banning HS boys and girls golf team the use of the golf course for the 2021 season. Strict health and safety guidelines will be in place dictated by CDC, Riverside County, and CIF. The Board will be holding our open session on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and dark the rest of the month. On behalf of myself and the Board, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, and Kwanza. Merry Christmas… May you have the Gladness of Christmas – which is Hope The Spirit of Christmas – which is Peace The Heart of Christmas – which is Love
