FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2020 5 The State of California and Riverside County Public Health (RCPH) Department continue to set the guidelines for what is open or closed during the pandemic. At our current level, COVID-19 safety precautions require social distancing, masks, temperature checks, and essential-only meetings. The Board of Directors has met in executive sessions, open sessions, and several special or emergency sessions not only this past month, but over the almost eight months we have been dealing with the COVID pandemic. The Board and our FirstService Management team have monitored the county guidelines on a daily basis. Whenever we have the opportunity to open our indoor facilities and any outdoor facilities safely, rest assured we will open them. FirstService Management, at the request of the Board, has contacted RCPH for the authorization to reopen the indoor pool at The Summit. As of this writing it was to no avail, but we will keep trying. We were requested by a petition to keep the outdoor pools at The Courts and The Lodge open and keep the heaters on during the winter months. The Board reviewed the request, the average temperatures during the months of November through the end of March, and the projected costs to heat the pools. Also, we reviewed the possibility of heating The Courts and Lodge pools for November only. The Board of Directors voted unanimously to shut the heat off at both outdoor pools and not use any of the COVID-19 savings of approximately $85,000 to heat the pools at a cost of about $5,000 or more per month per pool. Instead, the Board of Directors will be using the COVID savings to offset, as much as possible, any HOA dues increase caused by the rising costs of all our contracts and the Consumer Price Index in Riverside County. Speaking of contracts, our new Contracts Subcommittee is busy reviewing requests for proposals submissions for our gate attendants, landscaping services, cleaning services, and pest control. We expect that these contracts will be sent to the Board for review and approval at our next Board meeting and in the next several months. All of our committees, FirstService Management, and the Board of Directors are working together, not only to keep our community as beautiful as it is but to get the best prices for the services we are paying for. Thank you to all those committee volunteers who make it possible to operate this community at the level it is operating. We have restarted Meet the Board where residents can ask Board members questions and get answers at the same time. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 1 pm. Check the Daily Report for meeting log-on information and plan on attending via Zoom or in person if the COVID guidelines allow. These Q and A sessions used to be called Meet with Jean S, Jeanne Z, and John N. Now it is two or three board members at each session. Stay healthy, be safe, and be kind to each other during this unprecedented time in our lives. If you want to contact the Board about any issue, you may either email me at theboard@fourseasonsbeaumont.org or call me at (951) 212-8898. Have a happy and safe holiday season.
