The Committee met in November to focus on the remainder of 2020 and our 2021 calendar. As you know 2020 no longer has any events planned due to COVID-19. As we look into 2021, we have our year planned with events but still face COVID-19 and the flu. With each event we must focus on all current health rules — can we entertain the numbers of clients with social distancing expectations, is our food preparation approved and safe, and will our event remain indoors or does it have to be outside? Currently we are planning to start ticket sales on Feb. 1, 2021 for our Feb. 20, 2021 Rock 'N Roll Event called The Classics. The impersonators will be Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Frank Sinatra. At this time, we are planning on having 240 persons sitting at tables and the cost is $30 per person. This is an optimistic approach, however I know we all understand that things can change. We will keep you aware of updates as we move closer to the event. Take care of yourself, your family, and friends. Safety is the key so let's follow the guidelines that are required. ~ Joyce Hogue, jhogue54@gmail.com Social Committee 26 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2020 Over the past several months, it can be agreed by all, that things have certainly changed in our lives. Changes have occurred in how we celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or a holiday with family and friends. Trips and cruises have had to be canceled. Even a weekend get-away, up in the mountains, with a special someone, has had to be delayed for some future time. Those changes are a result of the COVID-19 pandemic putting a strangle hold on our country and indeed, on our community. The Daily Report, published by our management team, has proven to be both a great source of information regarding the pandemic as well as information on things we can do at this time. Thank you FirstService Residential for the Daily Report. As one month has moved to the next, we have wondered when this difficult time will pass. Restricted amenity usage was implemented to comply with state and local COVID-19 guidelines. Our Board members who freely volunteer their time and energy have worked countless hours analyzing how best to see that the COVID-19 guidelines are followed. A big thank you to our Board members for all of their efforts to keep us safe and also open up as many amenities and activities as possible when allowed and safe to do so. Even though we all have experienced many changes, what has not changed is the need to be safe as we go about our day. Speeding and not stopping for people in crosswalks are ongoing problems. With the results of a traffic study, Beaumont police officers will be able to issue tickets for violators. Also, some residents continue to walk on the streets and not on the sidewalks. Facts published by AAA state that seniors may have restricted flexibility and range of motion due to aging. Thus, ability to grip the steering wheel or press the brake is reduced, making stopping a vehicle difficult. Considering that most drivers on our streets here in the community are senior drivers, walkers please, for your safety, do not walk on the streets. Also, walkers, it is getting dark very early now, so as you are out and about, wear reflective clothing, carry a flashlight, and don't forget to have some identification on you. As the holiday season is upon us, the Safety Committee wishes for all a very safe and joyous time. Safety Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month via Zoom. We hope that you join the meeting. ~ Kaye Harvey, teachharvey@yahoo.com Safety Committee Check with your committee chair to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
