FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2020 55
Well, now that we are in the ninth month of a raging pandemic,
and as of this writing, in the middle of a Presidential election, it
makes it somewhat difficult to come up with that Cindy-like level of
enthusiasm while drafting this Breeze article.
But let's give it a try.
With the Dodgers winning the World Series after 32 years, and our
ex neighbor and ping pong colleague Don Fant escaping a cancer
scare, we can begin to feel fortunate that good things can happen
as we approach the end of 2020. Additionally, while the county was
elevated to a less stringent COVID category, the Courts room was
open for a couple of weeks, affording us the chance to dust off our
ping pong paddles and get back at it. However, you soon begin to
realize that playing feverish table tennis while wearing a mask is like
giving yourself mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for an hour!
Not for the faint of heart!
A few of you have suggested moving one of the tables outside
during restriction, but we soon determined that, with the challenging
logistics of transferring equipment in and out of the room each day,
not to mention the difficulty of playing table tennis in gale-force
winds, this was not a viable option.
As we begin to enter the remaining days of 2020 that will be rife
with social distancing, mask wearing, and endless hand washing,
the FSTTC would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday
season with the anticipation that 2021 will give us a chance to take a
much-needed, giant, deep breath !
Stay safe! ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com
