| THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2020 | 3 CALENDARS Isn't it interesting, even though things have slowed down due to the pandemic, that we continue to run and work at an even faster pace. Why? There is no place to go as everything is either closed or only partially opened. We tend to accelerate when everything around us is pausing. Think about this. By July, stores already had their artificial Christmas trees and decorations on display. Even here in The Colony, we were urged to contact the person who hangs the lighting in the trees (I did) in order to reserve his services. Labor Day came and we were pushed for Halloween. Then, lest we skip a breath at the start of November, we needed to order our Thanksgiving turkey (I didn't). Now we are looking past Thanksgiving and panicking about Christmas and what are we ever to do when "Black Friday" arrives and the stores are closed or limiting the number of customers? It reminds me of the old saying, "Take your time, but hurry up." Don't look now, but are you already planning the January "white sales" and buying your Valentine cards? I have to admit I've made my Valentine dinner reservation at Vintana (20 friends… I trust it will be open by then). I think you are beginning to understand the thrust of my message. Why not enjoy today for what it is and let tomorrow come when it arrives? Sit back and enjoy good conversations with family and friends, have your glass of wine on the back patio, marvel at the rain (or lack thereof ), and chill out. Thanksgiving came and went and you still enjoyed turkey, family and friends. Christmas will get here (you survived Black Friday – or did you stress out?), and your presents will get wrapped on time (don't they always?). Some folks around here are fretting about when the outside decorations need to come down. Yikes… really? Let's enjoy this year and the holiday season and wait for January to arrive (it always does). The HOA Board of Directors wish you and yours the merriest holiday season and may there be, even after the 2020 election cycle, peace here and abroad. Breathe in and out slowly.
