| THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2020 | 35 By Linda H. Kight, 319-0071 Wow, here we are in December and our lives are still not back to "normal." I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving, even though I'm pretty sure most of you must have celebrated the holiday a little differently this year. Once again, there is not much to report as everything is still shut down except for the courts and pool. The courts are being used on a daily basis, but we sure would like to see more people come out and participate in tennis, paddle tennis or pickleball. Our current Racquet Ball Club President, Tom McClure, asked that the information below be included in this month's article: November is typically the month that we elect a new Racquet Club Board of Directors for the following year. Although it will be some time before we resume tournaments and dinners, the three sports (tennis, paddle tennis and pickleball) are active and busy. The Racquet Club has about $3,000 in our checking account and a Board is necessary to monitor that account. Optimistically, the current Clubhouse closure will end some day and we will need a Board of Directors to organize our physical and social activities. Some of our current Board members have "chosen" to retire and we are looking for volunteers who would like to serve. The ideal Board of Directors would include those people who are active and involved in one or more of the three sports we represent. If you are interested in serving, please email Tom at thomas4211@gmail.com. The elections for the new Board will be held in December instead of November due to the unusual circumstances of 2020. I hope and pray that you all have a lovely and blessed holiday season and that The Colony residents go "all out" this December with lights and decorations to bring that holiday cheer into our community. God Bless. Racquet Club By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 We wish you all a very Happy Hanukkah and a very Merry Christmas! By the time you read this, we will have selected a new Board for the Players Theater Group and look forward to the coming year. We hope to put on our Variety show in the spring and our one-night Readers production of comedy skits next fall. We will keep our fingers crossed! We will keep you updated as to any new information in the coming monthly articles. Stay safe, healthy and enjoy the holidays! Players eater Group By Kathleen Brown, 698-5244 The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club usually has a holiday party and sharing potluck for their December meeting. Since we cannot have that this year, the Club's Board will be considering an alternative, virtual event. We hope members will still be able to share or connect with other members during this unprecedented year. If the "meeting" is confirmed and arranged, members will be contacted by email. Hang in there everyone! This too shall end. What will our great-great-grandchildren or Colony residents in 2040 learn about how we coped? Genealogy CLUB NEWS
