Village Vets
We want to thank everyone who contributed to the Ocean Hills
Veteran's Day Celebration, planned by Joe Ashby, and assisted by many
Village Vets, friends and Marines of the 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison
Company(1st ANGLICO) from Camp Pendleton. Tom Murphy and
members of the Woodchucks contributed two truckloads of toys for
the Camp Pendleton kids as part of their annual holiday project for
the Marines to take back with them.
The projects to help rebuild the Marines recreation/day room
with assistance from the Woodchuck's and the OHCC Art Club was
completed. The Art Club's project was to provide art work for multiple
wall paintings depicting soldiers at work. The paintings were done
by Barbara Miller, Jan Feintuch, Jerri McClosky and Carolyn Hunter.
Village Vets Club elections were held and the following positions
were filled for 2021: David Hefler, Commander; Tom Brennan, Vice
Commander; Robert Smith, Treasurer and Linda Strohm Secretary.
As you know, we are currently not allowed to have our General
Membership Meetings, but we do have monthly Board meetings
and continue to very active in conducting our business to provide
assistance to active military and veterans as much as permissible. In
January we will be conducting a membership drive for old and new
members. We urge all veterans, their wives, and those who just want
to assist our veterans and active military to join with us as members.
When we are again allowed to have general meetings, we have lined
up some very worthwhile and informative speakers for our members,
an off-site program, and a party with participation from Navy and
Marine personnel.
