If you've danced to this 15 member band before, you know how fantastic they are. Each member is a professional star. Not only do they play their own instruments, but among them are singers and fronting the group is the inimitable full voice of Nannette. She belts out a tune with such zeal, the dancers sometimes stop dancing to listen more intently. Have you heard people say, "They don't play my kind of music." stardust dancers Four hundred wild people attended the annual Stardust Showcase in April. It was very rewarding for the dancers to have such a wonderful reception from the audience. Each act was received with a noisy acceptance. The performers were more than happy with the smooth running show. They thank all the guest participants. A cast party followed at the South Clubhouse. We are working on new routines for the Follies, featuring 30 dancers doing a "Mousercise" routine and a 50s "California Girl" number. We participated in the Art Hop and the USO Show in Banning last month. The modeling class was a part of the May Garden Club Luncheon. And don't forget to look for our military routine on the 4th of July. international dancers Our members and guests want to thank Lisa Chan and Joan Lau for hosting a most enjoyable Chinese New Year (of the snake) dinner and entertainment at a favorite Chinese restaurant in Yucaipa. We are busy learning three to four new ethnic dances for our 2014 performance and fashion show. More information in future publications. Our Director is Joan Lau, 769-3978; Dance Coordinators: Flamenco, Nora Huffman, 845-8333; Folkloric, Sussy Arzubiaga, 797-3258; Chinese, Joan Lau, 769-3978; and Polynesian, Sarah Thornberry, 769-1164 or Diane Avina, 769-0286. This year, from August though May, we learned 33 line dances, ten different couples danced and were able to show these accomplishments. Country Western dancing is unique in that everyone, singles and couples, are equally welcomed to come learn a dance, meet some friendly people and have a good time. If you have an interest in learning about us, we will have two free, no obligation introductory dances in August. Come see what we're about and learn, if you want, a basic line dance and a basic couples dance at each of the two dances. These introductory dances will be on Fri., Aug. 9, and Aug. 23, at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Plan on coming to either, or even better, to both. Check our article in Lifestyles for more details in the coming months. Info., Joe or Jean, 769-9148. 80s plus club One of our favorite singers Valerie Hubbard was our entertainer last month. Val did a new spin on her show and made it a game for the audience, they were to guess the popular singer for each song she sang. The songs included "You Belong to Me,""San Francisco," "Over the Rainbow," "What a Wonderful World," "Allegheny Moon" and "Crazy." Members had fun doing it and were able to guess all but one . Thanks,Val, for a really fun day. The 80's Plus Club would like to thank the Friendship Club for their generous donation of table cloths, storage bin and many other supplies. This kind donation will be very helpful to our Club and is greatly appreciated. We meet the second Saturday of the month at the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. Caregivers and spouses are welcome.
