Friends we will miss John Buccheri passed away April 8, 2013. John was born December 3, 1923, but due to a fire in the Boston City Hall, his official birthday is December 5, 1923. John made the best of this — he celebrated both dates with exuberance and, on December 4, which is his brother's birthday, he included one more day of celebrating. He always said, "Make the most of everything, have a positive attitude, and find something good in everything that happens. That is the only way to live!" John started school in Medford, Massachusetts. He spoke only Italian because his grandmother spoke no English. His father spoke little English; therefore, his mother, brother and sister went along with Italian in the house. He said, "There is no bilingual, as you either became a quick learner or were left behind." To the end, John would say that he learned something every day. His accomplishments are numerous. He was a decorated WWII hero who flew 52 missions. He was an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, Labor Policy Chairman with the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts, Chairman of the Collective Bargaining Board and Grievance Board for the town of Stoneham, Trustee for the New England Ironworkers Health/Welfare and Pension Funds, Regional Manager for a major California Construction Firm and Principal of his own Consulting and Appraisal Company. John loved his family, his friends, his community — he loved life! We will miss him terribly but are grateful to have had him in our lives all these years. John passed away peacefully on April 8, 2013, at home with daughter Pamela Sipple. He leaves behind his wife, Sonja Buccheri, his daughters, Pamela Sipple and Susan Szerbiak, along with his grandsons. Jean Anne Torre passed away quietly on May 3, 2013. She is survived by her son Tom, daughter Janine and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Sal H. Torre. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and former coworkers who enjoyed her company immensely over the years. Her greatest gift was her ability to demonstrate her love through her actions. We want to remember your loved ones in the "Friends We Will Miss" section, above, but we need your help. Please be sure to get us the information about their passing.
