Did You Know? DuChesne Wins Re-Election to the Speed Limit: Board of Directors HOA Board Member Loren DuChesne was easily re-elected to a third term over challenger Barbara J. Kwiatkowska-Amerton by a vote of 881 to 131. A majority of households voted in 11 of the 13 districts in Four Seasons. The total voting power of those districts was cast by their delegates in the proportion to the ballots actually cast. In the Monarch One and Heritage One Districts, representing 209 votes, a majority was not achieved, the ballots were not opened and the delegates cast the total voting power as they saw fit. The residents' ballots were counted on April 16. Then on April 25, the directed votes of the majority district delegates along with discretionary votes of the non-majority districts were announced at the Annual Board Meeting on April 25. DuChesne, who serves as the Board Vice-President and Secretary, ran on a platform emphasizing the Board's accomplishments during his tenure. "The Board has a good, effective process. I'm happy about how we operate," he said. Board President Jacque Sneddon and Treasurer Wayne Staples both have a year left on their terms. The four other members are appointed by the builder, K. Hovnanian Homes. The appointed members will remain a majority of the Board until the community is built out. After that, all members will be elected from the community. ~ Leighton McLaughlin The speed limit in all Four Seasons streets is 25 MPH for main streets and 15 MPH for alleys. Four Seasons has an agreement with the Beaumont Police to assist in enforcing these speed limits. Our pedestrians are reporting an increase in the number of cars speeding around corners or along the streets. Residents are urged to report these incidents to the Beaumont police, noting the time and place of the unsafe driving. If you can identify the driver, please do so. We need to all work together to make Four Seasons a safe place to live, both in our homes and on the sidewalks. Public Pools: A new California law banning swimmers in public pools who have had bout of intestinal distress (diarrhea) within the past 14 days will be implemented in the Four Seasons swimming pool and spa. Signs informing residents of this law will be processed through the appropriate committees and the Board of Directors. Going Green: If you really want to "go green," you need to be aware that waxed paper, food-contaminated paper (such as a cheese-encrusted pizza box), mixed metal and paper (such as stapled papers) ceramics, Pyrex or other heat-resistant bakeware, mirror or window glass may not be put in Waste Management bins for recycling. Any jars or cans must be rinsed clear of food before being put in the bin. Lunch & Learn: The City of Beaumont hosts a Lunch and Learn program once a month at the Albert A. Chatigny Community Center. The June 13, presentation will be by personnel from Redlands Community Hospital on the topic of Spine and Joint Pain. Reservations are required; call (951) 769-8539. ~ Bobbie Eckel Community News | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2013 5
