Golfing for Fun
Fellow duffers and others who don't count… We have a few more rules to put
forth, or even fifth:
• Use of the foot wedge is mandatory. It doesn't matter who sees you doing it,
just make sure that it is in the direction of the flattest spot on the fairway and
with sufficient force to obtain a clear shot to the green.
• When approaching the green, take the club that will allow a force sufficient
to get it within 10 feet of the hole. Any stroke that is within this distance is
deemed to be too good to be with this group and should be disqualified, and
outside the distance is good enough to be a "gimmie."
• When reaching the 17th hole, time out is taken to provide some libation to
continue play. Gin or vodka is preferred.
• Mulligans can be taken on the first, second, and, come to think of it, most of
the other holes. This is supposed to be fun, you know.
Play for this month will probably be at Yucaipa Golf Course and any other course
that dares to let this bunch on.
Recently, a ball struck by Rick Bower ended up under one of the wheels of a cart.
Such a ball must be hit again while the cart is still on top of it. Sorry Rick.
Please note that there are some players who do not have transportation to the
course. Should that happen, just call another player for help and any strokes that
will be deducted from his score will be minor (just kidding). Come on guys, weather
is getting great and participation is needed. Info., Phil Harris, (951) 922-6676 or
