52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2021
This is the perspective of the artist of the month,
Thomas Herron: COVID-19 has caused most of us
to dramatically alter our lives. We now avoid large
gathering activities in favor of smaller safe groups.
While I traded horseshoes for jigsaw puzzles, my
interest in drawing intensified. That and with help
from my wife, I have been able to maintain my sanity.
The two drawings shown are products of my love
for history and in particular, great builders. I have a
passion, that was formed during my student days, when
together with 500 fellow students, we traveled over land
from the United Kingdom to India. Cathedrals, temples,
mosques, and castles were a must see throughout
our journey. Saint John the Divine of New York City
(above) and Notre Dame of Reims, France (left) are
wonderful examples of both the new and old world,
maintaining a style we now feel is ageless. Possibly the
time of building Colosseums, Leaning Towers, Mount
Rushmores has passed, however thankfully most are
now immortalized in art and preserved by people who
care and value them.
