58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2021 Even though the weather is colder and the wind has begun to whip around , we are still able to get out to the pickleball courts and have some fun-filled stress release. Fall and early winter have been busy. The courts are filled with laughter and joy Monday through Saturday. One Saturday we had to wait for space available because all eight courts were filled. LynnRae Dupree, our event organizer and tournament planner, has been side-lined by the pandemic. Very few tournaments are being played. However, she did improvise and create our in-house, fun-filled weeks of different play nights. She plans to create more excitement for us after the holidays. Of course we all practice safe distancing and wear masks. Many of our players have been traveling around California to participate in the few tournaments still being held. We are proud to announce two of our winners. Daniel Edwards and Vicki Gonzalez won a bronze medal at the Mission Hills Country Club Pickleball championships on Nov. 15. We are very proud of them. Our pickleball group was also busy at the golf cart parade. Many of us enjoyed decorating our carts and zooming around our community. Enjoy this poem- An Ode to Old Pickleball Players With a click and a clack And a groan and a grin The pickleball addicts are at it again! Some have a few problems, Like funky knees, But when they get on the court, They play with ease. They can dink, they can lob, Hit a blazing smash, You might even think , That they're playing for cash. They might forget the score, Or even your name, But it doesn't matter because, They ALL love the game! This pickleball game, That's so much fun, Just may be the secret To staying young!
