As of this writing there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. If all goes well, we may be able to plan trips sometime in 2021. In the meantime, enjoy the virtual travel sites presented in Wednesday's Daily Report Activity Blast. COVID-19 Update: Five drug companies have (Phase 3) clinical trials in process. Two of the companies have requested approval to manufacture and distribute their vaccine. It is likely that a vaccine may reach the public by the end of 2020. The CDC has been working with health departments, drug companies, and various agencies on a plan to quickly distribute the vaccines when they do become available. For the latest information on COVID-19 vaccines, go to the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/index. html. With any luck things will be more or less back to normal by the end of 2021. In the meantime, there are three important ways to keep safe and slow the spread of the virus: 1. Wear a mask to protect yourself and others; 2. Social distancing — stay at least six feet from others who don't live with you; and 3. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if water is not readily available. A Community Garden Club has now formed and has been evaluating the open spaces around our community that might be suited to this activity. Although still in progress, a steering committee is now meeting regularly and we welcome Martha Tureen as the president. Martha is a master gardener for Riverside County and we have several other master gardeners who have joined the group. We hope to have a location approved by November and are working on our budget to make it a great addition to our community this spring… just in time for planting season!
