24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2021 | "Walk-Fit" Exercise Club "Happy New Year 2020!! Hope you are excited by all the possibilities the new year brings." That is how I began my newsletter article for 2020. Little did I know what 2020 would bring us: lock downs, quarantines, face masks, business closures, supply shortages and of course the cause itself, COVID-19. As I write this, we are again under a stay-at-home order and who knows when we will be able to meet as a class again. Be sure to follow the updates from our terrific Four Seasons team. I will also contact you when class can resume. For now: "Happy New Year 2021." May the year bring us patience as we move toward more normalcy in our lives. The promise of vaccines gives us hope that we will be able to return to life as we knew it. 2020 in our house was a lot more sedentary than normal. A few extra pounds crept on. We are vowing to turn that around. Walk Fit Class will be a great way to start. A full hour of aerobic walking burns about 350 calories, is heart healthy and builds strength and stability. (three times a week is 1,050 calories.) The class consists of eight different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" dvds. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the dvds incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome! When classes resume the schedule will remain the same. We meet Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Lodge Ballroom. CLASS IS FREE! For more information, contact Karen Tuvim at (316) 260-0847. Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, & time. Happy New Year! Due to the quarantine, some of these faces are opting out because of concerns with COVID, etc. We do offer a telephone hook-up for those members who want to strength train from home. (By the way, this is not social distancing! The photo below was taken in the "good old days"!) We continue to meet in the Lodge Ballroom at our new time, 8:30 am. We are observing all the Lodge rules of masks, social distancing, etc. We remain a very social group. At the present time, we can dine in or dine outside. We thank the Bistro gals for making this all work smoothly. We are a FREE class. We meet in the Lodge Ballroom every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 am. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at 765-7112 or Char Weakley at 926-2599. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY)
