| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2021 | 43 Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Our Bible study group is non-denominational. When facilities are allowed to open again, we will meet together Wednesdays, 7 pm, for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. We will resume this after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us when we meet again. Bible Study Happy New Years to everyone. My primary duty as your Vice- President is to keep you informed about what our club is doing. Granted, it's been awhile since our last outing. Even so, to tell you the truth I am still finding it difficult to talk about RV trips, bocce ball games, etc. right now. I feel what I want to do is write about two other subjects. First, I want to express some thoughts about the year just finished, 2020. Secondly, express some thoughts about the new year 2021. When I look back on 2020, to be very truthful, I'm glad to be alive. That being said, it reminds me when I was in the Navy and our ship was in the middle of a typhoon. All you think about, all you felt about is "When is this going to end?" Even with all the illness, sadness, death, financial loss, I believe there has been a reawakening of what is truly important to us as individuals and families. Yes, I am very grateful for being here in Sun Lakes. However, what I have found to be far more important is to spend time with my family, friends, and attempt to hit that darn golf ball with my golfing buddies. I think you get the point. If you are right now reading this in the January edition of the Lifestyles magazine, we should give thanks to whoever our higher power is. WHAT ABOUT 2021? To start with, in my belief system, only one person truly knows, and he doesn't live here in Sun Lakes. Yes, we need to continue to take all the necessary precautions to stay physically healthy. What about our mental and emotional health? Author Brian Tracy stated the following: "Our attitude drives the images in our mind that determines our current emotions which generate the actions we take and then becomes our new attitude." True, we know we can't control what everyone else in the world will do in 2021. And sometimes we are unable to even control our own physical environment. What we can control is how we think and feel about what others do, and what is happening. So let's be optimistic about 2021. Might as well; it's coming.
