48 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2021 | Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Table Tennis/Ping Pong Nothing new to report. We are still locked out of all clubhouses and all indoor activities. Therefore the only item I can address are the upcoming holidays. The leadership wishes all members a Happy Holiday Season — as much as possible under these COVID conditions. Most of all please STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY, and we hope circumstances allow us to play early in the new year. The above was written for the December 2020 issue but sent incorrectly to the magazine so it did not make it into that issue. The following is for this issue of the Lifestyles… The leadership hopes your holidays were enjoyable. We now face the beginning of a new year with the uncertainty as last year so again I say nothing new to report, and continue to stay SAFE and HEALTHY. For information, contact Roland at (951) 769-3978. Unfortunately, little has changed! We're still semi-locked down. We're thinking in terms of a Winter Tournament, played with the rules we used for the Fall Fun Run. One thing we hope is that we can use all three courts. If you read my December article, you know we had four players at each end of the court, each player threw two balls during their turn. There was little interaction. Players only changed ends once during play. It worked well, especially for those who are less mobile. The referee kept the score. If we do indeed go with this format, a rough schedule would read like this: Entries would be due by Jan. 8, with play beginning Jan. 18. Times would be 1, 2 and 3 pm, hopefully the warmest part of the day. Depending on how many courts we can use, playing days could well be Monday thru Thursday. Stay close to your computer! We'll send updates as things change. If you have questions, call Dutch at (951) 845-0392. Meanwhile, stay safe, stay well and have a happy holiday season! Friends of Bocce Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai Chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class. If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi and join fellow Sun Lakers in developing strength in balance, stamina, and flexibility. Info., Dee Coughtry, (951) 381- 4919. Tai Chi
