40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2021 | Yiddish Culture Club Move out 2020! We are so done with you! Hello 2021! Since no other members volunteered to serve on our Board, current Board members have agreed, and were nominated for, the 2021 Board. President- Ellie Fixman, VP of Programs-Diane Stone, VP Communications- Barbara Jesus, VP Membership-Diane Berley, Treasurer-Maryanne Kirschbaum, Sunshine-Member at Large-Marilyn Forhane, Member at Large-Refreshments-Sara Friedman. The membership voted in the new Board at the December Zoom meeting. On Dec. 9 the Board delivered a Chanukah treat to members' homes. This was a wonderful idea to welcome in the Holiday Season. Thank you to everyone who helped! Unfortunately, YCC cannot have our usual Gala Installation Dinner Event this month. Looking back through the years, we've all enjoyed excellent dinners to celebrate holiday events, yummy ice cream socials and wine and cheese events, movies (both educational and fun), and special topic speakers. How many of these wonderful events do you remember? Linden Waddell sang Alan Sherman Songs. Marjorie Poe accompanied her. Mark Schiff 's comedic "show about nothing" was hilarious. (He is one of Jerry Seinfeld's buddies.) Our favorite songs were performed by SLCC musicians: Tin Man's Heart, Nancy Ford, Jamestown, and Audacity. There were fun and laughs with the Perry Goldstein Band. Volunteer members performed Linda Vieira's humorous and original plays. The club held a challah bake-off where members learned how to make this wonderful bread. Members visited interesting sites, such as the Tolerance Education Center and a Mosque. Our next general membership Zoom meeting is Wed., Jan.13 at 7 pm. Join other members and invite a new friend! We will catch up with each other and watch another short entertaining video. Members will be sent an email with a link, and if you need help or practice with Zoom, whether it's with a landline, cell phone, computer or tablet, contact Diane Stone. (Also, please remember that YCC has a large selection of DVD movies available for your enjoyment.) The club extends a warm welcome to our newest members and best wishes to members who have had birthdays and anniversaries. We extend get-well wishes to those who are recuperating, and sadly, condolences to members whose loved ones have passed away.
