| THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2021 | 23 By Bonnie Graham,619-889-6770 If you are new and not aware of this fantastic group of talented residents, get to know the Colony Players Theater Group. We are resident-based, and we produce an annual variety show in the spring. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we had to cancel our 2020 program. We haven't, however, stopped working behind the scenes to bring this performance to you in 2021. The performers are the most dedicated volunteers, and they rehearse year-round. We have four dance groups, singers, jokesters, storytellers, actors and so much more to entertain you. We welcome new members – no experience necessary, no dues, just the will to have fun. We also have folks who work behind the scenes helping the performers. So, you see, there is something for everyone. If you are interested in knowing more about us, please contact Brenda Sindorf or Carol Strutt. The Colony Players would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a healthy and wonderful 2021! Players eater Group By Kathleen Brown, 698-5244 Welcome to 2021! Let's hope that we will be able to meet in the Annex and have regular in-person meetings soon. The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club's program will be held as usual on the second Tuesday of the month, Jan. 12, at 1 pm, via Google Meet, which is a program similar to Zoom and online. Our treasurer, John Murphy, has volunteered to give a presentation on DNA which will be good for beginners in genetic genealogy research. John has had eight years of college, is a retired engineer and during all his time in college had only one class in Biology. He has written a presentation that will be easy to understand for those who do not have a biology background. As we know, DNA testing and matching has become increasingly technical and, for some of us, it's beyond our understanding. Not to worry when John is here! Members will receive an email the day before the program that gives instructions to log in for Google Meet. If you do not have appropriate computer access or have difficulty getting set up, please give John a call at (951) 698-1412. He is more than willing to help you! The more you use this kind of technology, the more you will feel comfortable with it. So please try it. For those non-member residents interested in viewing this presentation, please email your name, address, and phone number to Kathleen Brown , pookiedook4@ gmail.com. For any other questions, you may call Charlene Patterson, our president, at (951) 239-1229. Genealogy CLUB NEWS
