| THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2021 | 3 Promises Made…Promises Broken New Year's resolutions are a figment of one's imagination, as we have every intention of following through but little to no "will power" to do so. Once a year, we determine that this year will be different, we really mean it, we can do it. READY, SET, (drum roll) IMPLOSION. Yes, this year I am really going to lose weight; I am going to walk every day; I am going to give up sweets, chocolate and all the other "good things in life" in order to begin a more healthy lifestyle (cough, cough). I'm going to do the Colony wave rather than the Colony finger. I'm going to be more outgoing, call a friend, stay in touch with a loved one, have a friend over for coffee (not dessert), send a card to someone who just needs a cheery uplifting, keep my smile, not complain (cough, cough), find good in things that used to bother me, be creative not destructive and congratulate rather than criticize. I'm going to get INVOLVED and volunteer for one of the Colony committees. I'm going to be INFORMED by attending the open sessions of the HOA Board meetings (cough, cough). I mean it. This year will really be different. No, really, I mean it! Really?? You've got to be kidding. Who am I kidding? Myself? It isn't going to be different. I know it. You know it. Although it sure does feel a lot better mentally, physically and spiritually just thinking about it. Okay! Here is the clincher. I'm determined to give it a month, a week, a day. Oh (bleep), I'm already feeling better just thinking about all I was going to do…but it isn't going to happen. Now I can relax just knowing I tried. I feel better. How about you?
