Village Line Dancers
Welcome 2021. And here is the new Board of Directors, which
looks just like the old Board of Directors, with the addition of
Marlene Tanner as Treasurer replacing Mary McGhee. Welcome
Marlene and thank you to Mary for her service to the Club and
staying on as our webmaster. We continue to explore every way
possible to start up safely dancing together again. Meanwhile, we
will keep line dancing available through Zoom and videos on our
web site during these strange times.
The Village Line Dancers is a club with over 130 members, men,
and women, some in their 90s! Line Dancing is moving to music
with guided dance steps; that is, an instructor is either telling
you the next move, showing you the step, or both. When we dance
together — live/in person — we have helpers on the dance floor
who know the dance. Watching them during the turns makes
learning line dancing even easier.
On Nov. 18, we had an opportunity to have a live class outside
by the pool area which we will start up again once the COVID
restrictions permit it. We tested out our instructor's sound
equipment and ability to be heard outside with 10 feet of distancing
between dancers and it worked well. We got positive feedback from
the students who were on the portable dance floor and the cement.
Line Dancing is perfectly suited for distancing.
We will let members know when we can start up live classes.
If you were a member in 2020 your membership is extended
through 2021. Currently we are offering Zoom classes at only the
Intermediate level and membership in our Club is not required for
that. If you are not a member, contact us for more information on
either Zoom (Intermediate level) or in-person classes when they are
available. OHCCVillageLineDancers@gmail.com. Check out our
website with line dancing instructional videos.
Stay well!
