These Are The People Who We Need To Thank Year Around… The list of our Casa workers that check you in, start you, take your hard- earned cash, and give you a ration if you are late. Every week these guys and one doll show up to get you going on the course and while you are not listening make fun of your outfits. For the men… please thank Jim Mulvey, Ron Carso, Mel Feintuch, Bob Fisher, Jerry Moskovitz, Hall Stephens, Arnie Forman, Max Blumeyer, and Al Paloutzian. For the women… the one, the only, Barbara Clark and big Bernie Alfonso. So, the next time you see them… shout out a thanks for years and decades of selfless, sacrificing, and morning hangover, dedicated service to you… enough, right? OK, done. Golf Pun: My single golf partner is torn between two potential women golfers for lasting love and marriage. One makes great pancakes and the other writes beautiful poetry. So, he is not sure he should marry for batter or verse. Christmas gift recommendations: And, these are available. Small portable heaters for your single cart, or your hands, hmmmmmm, warm on these cold mornings. Then there are the interesting golf balls you can get such as Farting Balls, Twisting Balls, Exploding Balls, off balancing balls. I like the GPS watch. And the weird magnetic attachment to his putter. He will never notice. This is my final column. I have enjoyed writing this year and did my best to fill the page during the COVID season, so I leave you with one thought: All the best, all the time. Have no bad days. ~ Hal Golf Club Back To (Billiards) School, One More Time: After absorbing last month's six amateur videos, you should watch how a real pro does it. See pool professional Calvin Coker explain ALL the fundamentals in his famous seminar for beginning pool players, conducted right here in our Billiard Room. Go back to our OHCC website – Social Clubs – Billiards. On the Lesson tab click "Assorted past videos," then "Play Pool in 90 Minutes – Calvin Coker." Calvin spends half his time as a pool pro and half as a professional singer. "Back in the day" he was a featured performer in one of the big Vegas casino shows. So, is he really that good a player? Watch this match and judge for yourself. Here's the poster we used to advertise it in 2014. He played Max Eberle who has won many pro tournaments and is one of the top straight pool players in the world. He and Calvin had a very tight and tense match. Watch it at the same "Assorted past videos" site by clicking on "Calvin Coker vs Max Eberle Exhibition." You'll see lots of other interesting videos there. Go ahead, spend a few enjoyable hours on something that will pay dividends for years to come. It's a pretty good time for it. Billiards
