32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2021 |
Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
You may not have noticed, but there is some kind of pandemic
going around. Now if you or anyone close to you has been affected,
effected or infected by this thing you have our very deepest sympathy.
But here we are talking about writers, our once and once hopefully
again Sun Lakes Creative Writers group. Our little group can't look
at a blank piece of paper without trying to find words to fill it. This
clever gang can pile up words in almost any order to create memories,
fictional stories, historical treatises, poetry, or even humor. It seems
ages ago when we got together in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose
Room on the first Monday of each month and the third Wednesday
at 3 pm. We'd read parts of projects we were working on and the
group would discuss, offer critiques or laugh and giggle, hopefully
at the humorous stories and not your memories. There is of course
an upside to being quarantined for almost a year. People who write
also love to read. At a time when book merchants were dropping
like flies, books are flying off the shelves again — or actually simply
arriving in the mail or on a Kindle. You could not find a better reason
to continue writing. The day will come when we can get back to our
regular schedule and see just who is behind those masks. Maybe it's
the Lone Ranger, or the Loan Arranger. Did you even think you could
walk into a bank wearing a mask and ask for money? If you'd like to
be one of the first to be informed of when we will meet again, you
can send an email to Roger Smith at rlswriter@verizon.net or if you
are in a mood for nostalgia try the telephone. Here's a good number:
