24 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2021 | Knitters & Fiber Artists Sew What? Club Last year in January, we were able to represent our group at the annual Activities Day. It was so much fun and we did acquire some new members because of our participation in the presentation. We anticipated adding even more members to our group, as the interest shown was encouraging. Due to everything coming to a screeching halt shortly thereafter, we were no longer able to meet weekly, and those who were looking forward to joining us were most likely disappointed. While we were not able to have an Activities Day this year, my hope is to inform those new to Sun Lakes about our group through this article. We are mainly crafters with various interests in paper crafting. We do far more than just create scrapbooks. We make cards, photo books, journals, and so many other diverse and assorted projects. We work independently on our own endeavors but enjoy exchanging ideas with the others when we get together. Many times, we swap supplies or just bring in the tools of our trade for others to try. We meet on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. The second Monday of each month is reserved for our birthday lunches, where we celebrate all those having a birthday that month. We go to various local restaurants to enjoy socializing, not only with those we see at Scrapbooking, but also with several members who we don't see on a weekly basis. Our group is comprised of friendly, undramatic ladies who share a common joy of creating. Please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768 if you have any questions about the Scrapbooking group. There is no fee to join. The cost is $60 per month for materials and includes clay, glazes, tools, and firing. All you need to do is bring yourself. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. Info, Camille, spud5477@att.net. Happy Valentine's Day! As we are still under meeting restrictions, I'm hoping that it won't be too many more months until we can gather together to help make items we donate to our community. As of this writing our meeting time of Tuesday from 12:45 to 2 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room is still in effect. I know many of you who do projects at home will have a stockpile of things to bring once we are back up and running on a normal schedule. I enjoyed making several items for the Carol's Kitchen Christmas Faire; it kept my mind and fingers busy. We also made an abundance (approx. 130) of mittens and stockings to hand out to the San Gorgonio Hospital and also for Cherry Valley Rehab (photo at right). Stay safe and well until we can meet again. Questions?
