Is it February already?! February is Focus on Fundraising month for Four Seasons Canine Corral. We are making progress, and by mid-February we should start seeing some activity in the area along Breckenridge as the landscaping project will begin. And, did you know that February is also Four Seasons Face Mask month? It's true, because during the month of February you will be able to support our latest Fundraiser by ordering Four Seasons Customized Super Comfort Face Masks! Watch for information on how you can order yours in the Daily Report. To review the history of the Canine Corral, especially for residents new to Four Seasons, please read the January article to get caught up to where we are today. We set goals to raise the funds needed to meet our requirements for opening this new facility. With the funds we have raised so far, we have been able to approve the construction of a metal gate and we have purchased a fob-lock system to be installed on the new gate. Our members will be receiving a special fob to be able to access the Corral. Only resident members and their approved dogs will be using the Corral to ensure that our mission of establishing a clean, safe environment, respectful of neighbors, and amenable to dog owners and non-dog owners alike, will be adhered to. We also purchased special Canine Corral dog tags that will identify our member dogs who will be able to enter the new facility. Also with the funds we raised we were able to have the ground rototilled, which revealed how unusable the land was for opening a safe facility for our residents and their dogs. This work led to the Landscape Committee and the Board of Directors understanding the need to landscape the entire Lot A area which would provide a safe foundation for which we could now create our Canine Corral. We were able to order two dog waste stations to install inside - one on the large dog side and one on the small dog side. We have ordered four benches so we will have two on each side. These benches have been sponsored by our generous benefactors who will have an honor plaque specially designed for them on each bench. There is still one more bench sponsor needed! Our next major expenditure will be the installation of bender board along the lower fence base to preserve and maintain the decomposed granite landscaping that will be installed. Once all of the construction has been completed, it will be safe to carefully install our amazing honor plaques on the fence posts. Many of our benefactors have thoughtfully designed their plaques which are available in three different sizes. Don't despair if you have not ordered yours yet! Honor Plaques will be available to order on an ongoing basis. Even after we have opened, there will be plenty of space available for your plaque. By the time of this publication, we may have had a winner in our $500 Honor Plaque drawing. Tickets MAY still be available at The Lodge front desk for $10 each (we will be drawing the winner after 50 tickets are sold). Once the construction has been completed, we will be able to finally plan our grand opening! Our next fundraising goal will be to install shade structures, along with concrete bases to support the structures which will be shading our honor benches. We will need to raise close to $20,000 more to complete the corral. You can still participate! If sponsoring an Honor Plaque or Honor Bench is not for you, then you can send donations of any amount to our account: "Four Seasons HOA, memo: Canine Corral." Every dollar will help. Thank you! Fees from membership applications will also go towards improving and maintaining the facility, so get your application in now. Our Council is prepared to process applications before we open so we will have members ready-to- go for the opening because we can hardly wait to see dogs and residents enjoying this new amenity. Your membership will be valid for one year from the date you first use the facility, so you do not have to wait to apply. We heard that residents are interested in attending our seminars to learn more about the Corral, so all sessions are open for "audit." If you are interested in "attending," Zoom log-in information will be available. This is such a great opportunity for the dog owners in this community. Let's all help to make it happen. You can still order plaques and benches from Teri: teridimarino@gmail.com. Why not contact her today? The Council meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 10 am on zoom, and we have space for more Council members. ~ Sandra Butler-Roberts, sandirae@icloud.com FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2021 23 Canine Corral Council Check with your committee chair to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
