The social committee did not meet in January because we had to cancel our Feb. 20 event, "The Rock & Roll Classic." We did reschedule for Oct. 23 and now the Rock & Roll party will have a Halloween theme with dancing, tribute artists, and "Elvira" as the emcee. With each event we are still focused on current health rules and safety of our residents. Safety is very important to us here at Four Seasons, so let's all follow the guidelines that are required. We will keep you updated as we move closer to each event. Please take care of yourself, family, and friends. ~ Loretta Ramsey, lorettaramsey@aol.com Social Committee 26 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2021 During our last safety committee meeting, we reviewed some of the projects that were completed during the past year. The following are a few of these accomplishments: • Numerous trip hazards mitigated on sidewalks and other paths of travel • Walking trail enhancements and improved trail access • Curb cutouts to facilitate street crossing • Existing crosswalks restriped and new crosswalks installed • New stop signs and speed limit signs installed • New benches installed on trails and along Four Seasons Circle • Traffic study initiated • Numerous hand sanitizers installed throughout the property • Monthly Breeze articles and safety tips We acknowledge that these enhancements could not have been achieved without your continuing support and valuable feedback. Thank you! Winter Weather Driving Safety Tips Winter weather driving can be challenging. Therefore, it is important to exercise more caution while driving. Wet, slick roads decrease your ability to maintain control of your vehicle. Whether driving on Four Seasons property or on the city streets, try to adhere to the following guidelines: • Check your tires. Make sure your tires are inflated properly and the treads are not worn down. • Reduce your speed. Drive slower in rain or icy conditions. Even with better roads, better tires, and anti-lock brakes, many drivers get into accidents because of a skid in bad weather. • Allow more time to slow down when approaching other vehicles, curves, and intersections. • Give more distance to the vehicles ahead of you. In inclement weather, double the normal following distance. • Never jam the brakes. This will lock the wheels and throw them into a skid. Instead, apply the brakes slowly. • Make sure your windshield wipers are in good condition. • Make sure your headlights are on during rainy conditions and when using your windshield wipers. This will increase your visibility to other drivers, and it's the law! Play it safe. The maximum speed limit on our property is 30 mph. However, remember to slow down when inclement weather or unsafe conditions are present. As a reminder, Safety Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month via Zoom. We encourage you to join the meeting should you have any concerns or if you would simply like an update on our ongoing safety projects. ~ Frank Hilberg, hilberg frank@ gmail.com Safety Committee
