This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Lian Lee: About one and a half years ago, two of my middle school classmates came to visit us. They were surprised to see that the drawings and paintings hung on the walls were done by me. They said they didn't know I had that talent. Then they turned around and saw the prints I purchased years ago for my last house, where they also hung on the wall. They told me to replace the prints with my own paintings because mine were much better than the prints. I was so flattered. Many thanks to Rob Kelman who offered me the opportunity to start a new discovery. I still don't believe that I'm as talented as my classmates claim. I think the reason I'm able to accomplish what I achieved today is my enjoyment to learn and to keep trying. Never think you can't draw and never give up the opportunity. If you do, you'll miss the biggest surprise owed to yourself. Rob has trained us to use our sharp eyes to pinpoint what we see to make a better version of our drawings and paintings. His suggestions always make a big difference before and after. When I showed him the image of my picture on the screen of my phone, he suggested a couple of areas for improvement. And oh yes it looks much better now! Thank you again, Rob. We are very fortunate to have this art class. Come join us and you may get a big surprise. You'll find out that you really do have talent. Hopefully the pandemic will end soon and we'll have in-person classes. Mixed Media Arts Classes are normally Mondays 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays 6 to 8 pm. Stay tuned for our return to outdoors or indoors classes! I still work online, texting or by phone with those students wanting feedback on their current masterpiece.
